LCW’s Marketing Wizard, Claudia Neal-Shaw shares her insight into how to make your brand stand out from the rest.
Whether you’re in small business, a big corporate or a sole trader, making your brand resonate with your client base can be challenging. The market is saturated with brands trying to put their content in the right spot so they can gain greater awareness of their product or service.
Particularly for small businesses, marketing yourself and your brand can be a task you simply do not have the time or money for. But instead of writing marketing off, schedule some time in your diary every week to create a plan. That plan is what you will stick to make sure your brand is standing out and connecting with the right people.
Here are a few simple tips to implement in your marketing journey:
1. Quality not quantity
Make sure your content is on brand, high resolution and meeting the needs of your audience. This might mean you can deliver 2 REALLY great posts each week which your audience is engaging with rather than 5 average posts which don’t resonate with your audience.
2. Making your brand visible on the right platforms
Marketing your business online isn’t always the only way to achieve sales and brand awareness. You might have a loyal customer base who prefer emails or direct mail. Do your research – ask your customers! Where do they want to see you?
3. Using your analytics
Numbers are your best friend. They tell you the who, what, when, where and how of your engagement with your audience. They’re telling you what’s working and what’s not. More importantly, they give you insight into how you can change your approach so your consumers engage with your content.
4. Collaborate with other like-minded businesses
Reach out to the brands who you feel match the type of work you can do. Collaborating with each other whether it be a jointly run event, sharing eachother’s content online or joining together on a promotion is a great way to access 2 audiences in one hit.
5. Being authentic
Humans aren’t silly. We’re switched on and call bulls*t when we see it! If you’re presenting a false image of what your brand is, people will see through it. Ask yourself who your brand is as a person. What would they be like if you met them in the street? Be true to your roots, your purpose and the direction in which you want to take your brand.
